Cops: Girls videotaped beating of a classmate, posted result YouTube
BENICIA -- Officers arrested two middle school girls Saturday after they allegedly filmed their assault on a 13-year-old classmate and posted it on YouTube.
This was allegedly the second time the victim had been beaten and recorded by the same 12- and 14-year-old classmates, Benicia Lt. Mike Daley said.
All three girls are Benicia Middle School students.
"(The victim) was friends with one and an acquaintance with the other," Daley said.
The first incident reportedly occurred at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Robert Semple Elementary School field off East 2nd Street, Daley said.
Saturday's incident took place at about 4:15 p.m., Daley said.
The two suspects had allegedly lured the girl to the field both times by telling her that they had some of her property they wanted to give back, Daley said.
In the course of their relationship, the two girls legitimately acquired some of the victim's property, Daley said.
Once at the field, the two suspects allegedly beat the victim repeatedly on the head and pulled her hair while she was on the ground, Daley said.
Saturday's attack allegedly left the victim with minor injuries to her neck and head, Daley said.
The suspected attackers did not use weapons, just their hands and fists, Daley said.
