HOLLISTER, Calif. -- A substance abuse program was held in Hollister Monday evening after statistics were released showing 70 percent of 11th grade students admitted to drinking alcohol within the past month. During the Alcohol Awareness forum at City Hall, Debbie and Steve Allen shared their story about how they lost their 17-year-old daughter to acute alcohol poisoning just over a year ago. Their daughter -- Shelby Lyn -- sneaked out to go to a friend's house on the first day of Christmas break in 2008.
